For sale is a WW2 Royal Navy Malta George Cross Fiftieth Anniversary Medal Group And Supporting Paperwork. This medal group belonged to Mr Sydney G Durban who’s believed to have served in the Royal Navy during World War Two. Sydney was born on the 6th of January 1916. Before enlisting he was employed on the railway.

Included in this group is: WW2 mounted medal group including; 1939-45 star, Atlantic star, africa star, defence medal and war medal. Ww2 medal bar matching the medal group. Malta George Cross Fiftieth Anniversary Mounted Medal. Malta high commission “with compliments” blue card. A letter from the office of the prime minister of Malta, informing Mr Sydney G Durban… this letter states “I have the honour to inform you that the President of Malta has been pleased to approve the Prime Minister’s recommendation that “The Malta George Cross Fiftieth Anniversary Medal” be awarded to you. Your name will, in due course, appear in the List of Awards to be published in the Malta Government Gazette. The Rules for the Award provide for the presentation of The National Commemorative Medal to be made by Malta’s Representatives abroad in the name of the President. Award Ceremonies will therefore be held in London by Malta’s High Commissioner.” The Malta George Cross Fiftieth Anniversary Medal is a commemorative medal created by the government of Malta and awarded by, or in the name of, the President of Malta. Established on 17 January 1992, it could be awarded to individuals who met the specified requirements of service and made application for award of the medal by 15 April 1994. The medal honours the collective award of the George Cross to the island of Malta during World War II.
