WW2 RAF FN5 TURRET CUPOLA – Lancaster Nose Turret. A fantastic piece, this is the turret cupola that would have been fitted to the front of the famous Avro Lancaster bomber aircraft. Originally manufactured by Frazer Nash, who supplied most of the aircraft gun turrets fitted to WW2 RAF bomber aircraft.

We have extensively restored this cupola to as near original condition as possible, and a lot of hard work and time has been put into this. Please see the last images when the turret originally came into us.

The turret cupola was initially quite squashed from years in a scrap yard. We therefore took the decision to disassemble it and reshape the frame hoops. With this done new parts were manufactured and fitted, and approximately 250 nuts and bolts were required for this cupola. All the originals were unfortunately rusted beyond use. All new glazing was fitted, and the rear sheet aluminum clamshell was reshaped as this had extensive damage as well. Inside the cupola the original accommodation plate is still intact and attached to the cupola. There are also two original data tags fitted to the rear shell, One is A.M. stamped. The whole cupola was also stripped and repainted in the correct black satin paint.

Now what stands here is a fantastic display piece, of which only a few can still be surviving today. This would make a magnificent display piece within any RAF museum, collection, or display. Priced unapologetically, this could be the only example available for sale, please find me another!
