A surprisingly difficult to find 1945 dated British Jungle Service Hat.
Part of the 1944 Pattern Jungle Clothing this unissued size 7 1/8 example by Compton Sons & Webb is in excellent condition, free from damage or marks.
Khaki Drill & Jungle Green by Brayley & Ingram give a very good description of these hats which I have repeated here with credit to them.” Its broad brim deflects rain from the face and neck while shading the eyes from the sun; it is better ventilated than the Slouch hat; being flexible it can be rolled up and stowed in the pocket when not in use; and where necessary camouflage can be passed through the loops around the band.
