About this item
1918 dated British Army, “Sheets Ground MkV11” made by Anderson’s Rubber Co. and introduced in 1917.
Constructed in a rubberised cotton this example remains in very good, supple and undamaged condition with just minor loss in places to the rubber coating. All buttons remain in place.
It is perhaps best described in the official Army publication of the time:
“A new pattern Groundsheet which combines the functions of a groundsheet and Mackintosh Cape which replaces the Mk V Groundsheet as an ordinary Groundsheet but with a collar attached and with an extra triangular piece of sheeting added to one side. This allows sufficient room across for the pack to be covered when used as a cape.”
Now a very rare item.
